Watch with pearls and diamonds and a figure automaton
–
An extremely rare gold and enamel full hunter cased watch with pearls, diamonds and figure automaton with repeater, made for the Indian market by Favre-Leuba & Co. in Grenchen, Switzerland, circa 1880. The numbered full hunter case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold, is punched inside with the maker’s mark and both sides are magnificently engraved. The glazed dial has a white enamel ring with Roman hour numerals, a beautiful automaton with two putti striking bells on a black enamel background in the center and gold hands. The fine quality movement has an exquisite precision lever escapement, a quarter hour repeater, an automaton, screwed gold chatons and wolf’s toothing.
The case, dial and movement are signed.
