Gold rare scarab shaped cylinder watch
–
A very rare scarab form watch probably made in Switzerland, circa 1870. This especially detailed and rare design watch is crafted from 18 carat gold, enamelled and set with diamonds and pearls, has black, professionally restored, enamelled wings that have a spring lid mechanism. The white enamel dial has black Roman hours, an outer minute track with red Arabic five minute numerals and black spade hands. The numbered, key wound movement has a cylinder escapement which conceals a hidden medallion compartment. There is a suspension with a loop on the back to wear this timepiece as a pendant.
