Splendour pocket watch for the Indian market
–
An astronomical splendour full hunter cased watch, made for the Indian market by Henri Grandjean & Co. in le Locle, Switzerland circa 1875. The full hunter case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and has the for the Indian market typical engraving. The white enamel dial has an outer ring with red Arabic 5 minute numerals, black Roman hour numerals, subsidiary dials for dates, months and seconds, days and for moon phase and age at respectively 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock and gold hands. The unusual movement has a top quality precision lever escapement comparable to Louis Audemars, gold wheels, a fine adjusting device, wolf’s toothing and seven complications: a perpetual calendar, moon phase and moon age and a quarter repeater.
The cuvette is signed.
