A fine and unusual Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced complication double dial pocket watch with concealed calendar reverse, circa 1900-1920. This exceptional piece features a mechanical movement with two distinct dials, one on each side of the case, offering both a time display and a concealed calendar indication. The obverse dial displays both Roman and Arabic numerals in black enamel on a white background, an outer chemin de fer (railway) minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gilt hands. The concealed reverse features a skeleton dial with black enamelled date and day of the week indications on a white background, fitted with yellow gold hands, one of which is elegantly formed in the shape of a crescent moon. The 18 carat yellow gold case has substantial proportions befitting a watch of this complexity.
