Gold verge with the portrait of a lady

A fine Swiss 18K gold, enamel and paste-set open faced verge pendant watch, circa 1780. A Louis XVI case, maker’s mark BG, the back centred with an oval painted enamel portrait of a lady surrounded by a paste-set frame, translucent imperial blue enamel border with an applied filigree paste-set foliate pattern, the bezels set with round hubs, paste-set front bezel. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic numerals, winding aperture at 2 o’clock and gold Louis XV hands. A hinged frosted gilt, full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial. Movement signed.
