A Swiss gold heavy hunting cased pocket watch, circa 1870.
18 carat gold engine turned case with reeded band, numbered, signed and engine turned gold dome and case maker’s punch mark “GJ”. Signed enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, auxiliary seconds and blued Breguet hands. Bridge movement, nickel-plated, with wolfteeth winding wheels, gold screw compensation balance and counterpoised lever.

James Nardin, Swiss watchmaker and watch manufacturer
James Nardin was born on October 20, 1814 in Le Locle to Henry-Louis Nardin and Julie Robert. Father Henry-Louis was a cousin of Ulysse Nardin. James Nardin married Sophie-Louise Perret-Jeanneret (1816-1886) . He was the father of James Nardin junior (1836-1880).
James Nardin died on May 22, 1885.
