A very fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased pocket chronometer, detent escapement with chain, fusee and blue steel, helical balance spring, circa 1870. Frosted gilt high-quality movement, jewelled, pivoted detent chronometer escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold timing screws, blued steel helical balance spring, index regulator. Gold hinged cuvette.
White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock, and original gold spade hands. Engine-turned case with polished borders, spring-loaded front cover with  Coat of Arms with the words Audax Sed Fidelis (Dare And Believe). Back cover with monogram. Case Numbered.
