Full hunting cased pocket watch by Edouard Perregaux

A rare, fine Swiss gold lever hunting cased chronometer pocket watch, circa 1880.
Engine turned 18 carat gold à goutte case with engine turned gold dome. Signed enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, auxiliary seconds and blued Breguet hands. Bridge movement, ébauche: Piguet Frères, rhodium-plated, “fausses côtes” decoration, screwed gold chatons, wolfteeth winding wheels, gold screw compensation balance, blued balance spring, counterpoised lever.

Eduard Perregaux was born on October 10, 1819 in Le Locle and was probably a nephew of Henri François Perregaux . In the early 1840s he founded a workshop in Le Locle , at Rue de La Côte 141. He became an outstanding watchmaker and manufacturer in Switzerland. In addition to precision movements, pocket chronometers , minute repetitions and later all types of chronographs were manufactured there. In addition to conventional movements with chronometer escapement , his so-called anchor chronometers also achieved excellent test results. Perregaux won several awards in the chronometer tests at the Observatoire Neuchâtel. Than in the yearIn 1876, the city of Geneva put out a competition for regulators, he received the first prize for civil timepieces.
Eduard Perregaux died in 1878.
