A fine Swiss, 18K rose gold, keyless, hunting cased pocket watch, circa 1870. Retailed by A.H. Rodanet, Constructeur de Chronomètres, 38, Rue Vivienne, Paris. An engine-turned case with polished borders, engraved monogram SM on the front cover. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and five-minute Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. A matte gilt movement, 17 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line calibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, index regulator. Case signed and numbered, cuvette signed by the retailer.
