Gold cylinder with open face by Patek Philippe
–
A Swiss golden pocket watch from Geneva with an open face, circa 1880. This Patek Philippe watch features a mechanical movement with a cylinder escapement. It has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, a railway track for the minutes, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and pear shaped hands. The case back is chased with the MONS family coat of arms, decorated with a lion emerging from a viscount’s crown and bearing the motto OMNIA CUM TEMPORE. The dust cover is signed and numbered.
–
It is accompanied by its certificate of origin and warranty confirming the watch’s number, dated August 5, 1880, in Geneva. Presented in its original PATEK PHILIPPE case, the lid stamped in gold with a viscount’s crown surmounting the initials H.M., probably for Henri de MONTS de SAVASSE (1828-1891).
