An attractive Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced lever pocket watch, circa 1910. This watch features a manual winding movement with a lever escapement and a specially compensated balance, as indicated by Dr. Charles Guillaume’s marked Compensateur Guillaume. It has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, and moon hands. The case and dust cover are smooth, signed, and crafted from 18 carat yellow gold, with a monogram engraved on the cover.

Paul Ditisheim, born in 1868 and died in 1945, was one of the most important Swiss watch and chronometer makers. He researched and published primarily on topics of precision time measurement. After training at the Watchmaking School in La Chaux-de-Fonds, he worked in Ponts-de-Martel, Berlin, Paris, and Rotherham, Coventry. In 1892, he opened a watch factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds and soon became one of the most successful pocket and onboard chronometer makers, winning numerous first prizes in countless competitions.
