Gold open faced lever watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch with monogrammed case back, made by C. Detouche in Paris, circa 1900-1920. This watch features a keyless pendant winding mechanical movement with a lever escapement and a bimetallic compensation balance, the latter a hallmark of precision timekeeping associated with quality Swiss production of the early 20th century. The white enamel dial displays Roman numerals for the hours, an outer railway minute track with Arabic numerals for the minutes, and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The round 18 carat yellow gold case features a smooth polished bezel. The case back is engraved with a personal monogram, suggesting this piece was made as a gift or personal commission. The case is fitted with a yellow gold cuvette in 18 carat gold.
