A German 18 carat gold keyless winding pocket watch made for the South American market by J. Assmann, Glashütte, circa 1860. A fine gold hunting cased keyless pocket watch, cover and caseback engine turned. The silver dial showcases a central design adorned with applied, chased and engraved gold flowers and foliage. It includes a chapter ring with Roman numerals, intricately arranged engraved scrolls, and a sunken subsidiary seconds dial. The border of the dial is embellished with applied gold flowers.
A nickel, three quarter plate movement, 20 jewels in gold chatons, straight line Glashütte type lever escapement with gold pallet fork and escape wheel, cut Glashütte bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator. The Dial, Case and Movement are signed.
