Gold chronograph with minute counter

A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced keyless pocket watch, made by Vacheron & Constantin in Geneva, circa 1906. Retailled by J. E. Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., gift to Paul B. Belin, Scranton, Pennsylvania. Three horological complications: 1/5 second chronograph, activated by the single push piece located on the crown. Split seconds, activated by the rectangular shaped push piece located at 11 o’clock on the case band. Dragging 60 minute counter, subsidiary dial at 12 o’clock.

The case back is engraved with the cypher PBB. Also, an engraved cuvette in fine cut “Presented to/Paul B. Belin/By/The employees of/The Scranton Lace Curtain Company/For commemoration of his tenth anniversary/as Manager of the Company/Scranton, Pa./June 13th 1908”.

White enamel dial with suspended Breguet numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6, 60 minute counter at 12 o’clock and yellow gold Breguet hands. A nickel plated movement ebauche by Les Fils de Louis-Elisée Piguet, Le Brassus, Vallée de Joux, going barrel, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensated balance with gold poising screws and blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, polished steel index regulator with swanneck spring and micrometric screw, chronograph work and split seconds work on the top plate. Signature on the case, dial and movement.
