An extremely rare Swiss, 18K yellow gold minute repeating keyless pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph, circa 1900. Accompanied by a box and 10 pages of Col. Jones’s biography. Made for Col. E. Lester Jones, A polished case, back monogrammed ELJ, co-axial button in the crown for the start/stop and return-to-zero chronograph function, curved rectangular pusher on the band for the split-seconds function, locking bolt at 11 o’clock and a hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with painted radial Arabic numerals, outer 1/5th seconds track with red Arabic five minute/seconds markers, sunk subsidiary seconds dial and blued steel spade hands. A three-quarter plate movement, nickel plated, Geneva striping decoration, 29 jewels, straight-line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with gold adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band. Dial and movement signed, case numbered.
