A heavy, astronomical Swiss hunting cased minute repeating pocket watch with chronograph, calendar, and moon phase – with original box, circa 1896.
18 Carat gold polished case with engraved monogram, gold dome, case maker’s punch mark WN (William Neal, Coventry), pusher for chronograph at 2, and pusher for repetition at 6. Enamel dial with radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, windows for day and month, subsidiary dial for indication of the date, cobalt blue enamelled moon phase disc with inlaid golden moon and stars, and with blued spade hands. 2/3 plate movement, frosted and gilt, with ground chronograph steel parts, ratchet wheel, two hammers / two gongs, governor for repetition and monometallic screw balance.
