A Swiss almost as new automatic gentleman’s pocket watch with 36h power reserve indicator and Pedometer winding, circa 1890.
Engine-turned silver case with cartouche. Signed white enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minutes track, subsidiary dial for the seconds, 36-hour power reserve indicator, and blued spade hands. 3/4 plate movement, frosted, gilt, brass ring balance.
A small and well-proportioned pocket watch in a perfect condition that is unusual for a pedometer watch.

The company Wuilleumier Frères (Vuilleumier) was based in Renan between La Chaux-de-Fonds and Saint Imier. The company was founded in 1858 by F. Wuilleumier ( Félicien Vuilleumier ?).

The company FWR was registered on February 4th, 1885, and won a prize at the exhibition in Antwerp. Another one was in Liverpool in 1886, at the Paris World’s Fair in 1889 and in Chicago in 1893. Wuilleumier Frères received in 1892 a patent No. 5488 for a pocket watch with improved automatic winding and a patent no. 5483 for an automatic pocket watch with 36h power reserve display and pedometer winding. In addition to pocket watches with automatic winding, the company also manufactured pédometers, curvimeters and cartometers. In 1927 J. Armand Wuilleumier (Jules Armand Vuilleumier ?) was the owner as the successor to the company Wuilleumier Frères.
