A Swiss decorative gold enamel gentleman’s pocket watch for the Ottoman market, circa 1880.
Gold enamel case with eight segments. Back decorated with alternating segments: military equipment and musical instruments on translucent green enamel ground, and engine-turned pattern; translucent champlevé flowers on opaque rose-coloured enamel ground, a similarly decorated bezel and pendant, and it has a gold dome. Enamel dial with Ottoman numerals, Breguet hands, and signed in Ottoman: Sareku bid dua Rabbi, Sultani (Pray for God and for my Sultan). Frosted, gilt bridge movement with wolf teeth winding wheels, gold screw compensation balance, and counterpoised lever.
