A gentleman’s early Geneva pocket watch with a rare winding mechanism and Patek Philippe extract from the archives, circa 1883. Sold on 10/12/1883.
Silver, engine-turned case, case design Pomme et filet, with a reeded band, gold crown, hinge, and shackle. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, extra seconds and blued spade hands. 2/3 Plate movement, frosted and gilt, with an applied winding mechanism, wolf teeth winding wheel, screw compensation balance and counterpoised Moustache lever.

According to a 1980 statement by Patek Philippe, the watch was fitted with a feather key for the barrel, even though this has been not recorded in the books. The improved system was one of the inventions of Adrien Philippe and was patented by him around 1880.
