A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold and black enamel open faced lady’s pocket watch with a long matching gold chain, circa 1890. It has a mechanical key winding movement with a cylinder escapement. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals from 5 to 60, and blued steel hands. The dial has small enamel chips. The timepiece is housed in a small round 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case with a reverse back cover intricately chased with a vacant mute shield cartouche framed within a black enamel surround, a sturdy suspension bow, and a solid 18 carat gold inner protective cuvette. The watch hangs from a long 18 carat yellow gold forçat link chain (length: 74.5 cm), adorned with two decorative slides and an integrated watch key.
