A very unusual Swiss silver open faced captain’s pocket watch with center seconds and dual time indication made for the Chinese market by Guinand, circa 1870. Polished case. White enamel face featuring two small symmetrical dials with Roman hours, an outer minute track and moon hands, further subsidiary jumping constant seconds below, outermost center seconds divisions with Arabic quarter hour numerals and a blued steel hands. A foliate engraved gilt Tixier caliber movement with Jacot type Chinese duplex escapement, shaped single wheel bridge, freestanding barrel, three arm monometallic balance with blued steel winged weights, a blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator. Case and movement signed. Accompanied by a wooden stand.
