A French 18K gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1800. Chased bezel and border, the case back is decorated with a painted on enamel scene of a young shepherd and shepherdess in a landscape with a translucent dark green guilloché enamel background bordered by a white enamel line. White enamel dial with upright Roman hours, outer dot minute divisions, Arabic quarter hours and blued steel Breguet hands. A matte gilt movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock with steel endplate, silvered regulation dial.
