A very fine Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and diamond-set beetle-form lady’s pendant watch with a concealed dial, circa 1870. Accompanied by an 18 carat gold and black enamel pin. A beetle-shaped case, the spring-loaded engine-turned translucent blue enamel wings set with diamonds, opening to reveal the dial, the neck is diamond-set, rose-cut ruby eyes, a hinged realistically cast and chased underside and a ring suspension loop. White enamel dial, radial Arabic numerals, outer minute track and gilt spade hands. Heart-shaped gilt movement with a bar calibre, eight jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance, flat balance spring and an index regulator. The cuvette signed Genève.
