Jean-Louis Moré, Swiss master watchmaker

Little is known of Jean-Louis Moré; he was possibly born the son of Pierre Moré in 1764. He was a master watchmaker in Geneva and is known to have a contract dated October 7, 1786, with Charlotte Albertine Marat. Albertine Marat made watch hands and wheel trains. She was born in Neuchâtel on July 1, 1760, and died of abject poverty on November 2, 1841, in rue Dauphine or rue de la Barillerie, Paris, perhaps aged 81.
–
Albertine Marat was a sister of Jean-Paul Marat, a doctor, scientist and author of scientific and political writings. He became known as a Jacobin during the French Revolution and was murdered in Charlotte Corday’s bathroom.
–
Jean-Paul Marat was friends with the watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet, possibly Charlotte Albertine Marat also worked for Breguet; she died in Paris.
–
Jean-Louis Moré was possibly still active in 1829.

Signed: Jn Louis Moré
