A Swiss 18K gold, enamel and pearl-set form watch with concealed dial and visible balance designed as a mandolin, circa 1810. The sound-board chased and engraved with a seated cherub, flowers and foliage, a glazed sound hole displaying the balance cock and balance, a pearl-set border, the neck with blue enamel diaper decoration, the vaulted back with alternating sections of champlevé enamel in blue and yellow, green and black and black and white, wire strings with pearl-set pegs, gold suspension chain. White enamel dial, Arabic numerals and gold spear hands. A hinged, gilt brass full-plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain three-arm brass balance, continental cock, silver regulator plate.
