Gold and pearl-set open faced watch

A fine and unusual Swiss/French, 18K gold, enamel and pearl-set pocket watch, circa 1790. Made for the Chinese market. A hinged, split-pearl set bezel, the reverse with a central flower bouquet on a translucent red ground, split-pearl set bezel, bow with numbered rectangular shank. White enamel dial, Arabic hours, outer minute divisions with fifteen minutes/seconds numerals. Blued steel spade hands. A frosted gilt movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed, case numbered.
