Gold watch with polychrome enamel scene

A French 18 carat gold and enamel, open faced, quarter repeating cylinder pocket watch made by Berthoud in Paris, 18th century. The keywind movement features a cylinder escapement and a quarter repeater on bell. The white enamel dial, with an apocryphal signature, shows Arabic numerals for hours and an outer minute track with Arabic numerals for fifteen minute intervals. It has stylised hands and a winding square at 2 o’clock. The gold case back is decorated with a polychrome enamel scene.
