Pocket watch with calendar
–
An absolute rarity pocket watch with jumping seconds and calendar, made by Jean-Moïse Pouzait & Godemar Frères in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1790. The case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and the white enamel dial features an outer track with 15 minute division, a subsidiary hours dial at 6 o’clock, a dial for dates of the month at 2 o’clock, a dial for the days of the week at 10 o’clock and gold hands. The extremely rare movement with a Pouzait escapement is key wound.
The dial and the movement are signed.

The case is from the period and fits perfectly, but is not the original case (hinge needs to be adjusted). Pocket watches with Pouzait escapement are generally sought after collector’s items. A signed example with three additional complications is an absolute rarity.

Signed: Pouzait & Godemars Fres
