A very fine and extremely rare Swiss, 18K gold keyless, astronomical, hunting cased pocket watch, circa 1870. With retrograde perpetual calendar and phases of the moon. Made for the Islamic market. A solid, polished case, hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial, radial Islamic numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Islamic markers, retrograde date sector with Islamic numerals set at the top, phases of the moon aperture at 12, days of the week aperture at 6, month dial at 7, subsidiary sunk seconds at 5. Gold spade hands. A frosted gilt metal movement, 18 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring. Signed on the cuvette.
