Gold open faced keyless lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced keyless lever pocket watch, adjusted to chronometric precision, circa 1910. It has a high grade mechanical crown winding movement with a lever escapement, signed Chronomètre MV. The white enamel dial features bold black stylized Arabic numerals for the hours, a fine outer railroad minute track (chemin de fer) with red Arabic numerals for the afternoon hours (13-24), a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and rose gold tone hands. It is signed Chronomètre MV under the 12 o’clock marker. The timepiece is housed in a smooth round double body 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case. The case features a plain polished reverse back cover meticulously engraved with custom monogram initials, a fluted winding crown, and a sturdy round suspension bow.

The Chronomètre MV designation represents high quality Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship from the early 20th century, tailored for consumers who demanded superior precision. Timepieces marked as chronometers during this period had carefully adjusted lever escapements and compensation balances. This allowed them to remain highly accurate despite changes in temperature and daily positioning.
