Ernest Guinand of Le Locle was a gifted tourbillon maker like his peer Auguste Grether (1817-1879) of Ponts-de-Martel. Both men worked for a number of firms in Le Locle and La Chaux-de-Fonds. Guinand probably produced his first tourbillon around 1865, his very first one, No. 1060, was later sold to Girard-Perregaux and he is said to have sold as many as 25 tourbillons to this company. He died in 1879.
