Unsigned gold and enamel pocket watch
–
A Swiss gold, enamel, and pearl set cylinder watch, circa 1810. The watch features an unsigned gilt-brass movement with an eccentric layout and a cylinder escapement. It also includes a plain three-arm balance, a decoratively engraved balance cock, slim central bridges, and a hanging barrel with a decoratively engraved cover. The dial is black enamel with a pair of symmetrically arranged pearl-set cornucopias at the centre, from which emanate pearl-set barley sheafs. It also has an opaque blue enamel chapter ring, seed-pearl set Roman numerals, and an outer minute ring. The gold case features a milled band, and the back is adorned with engine-turned decoration, with a vacant cartouche at the centre. The watch also features a gilt metal cuvette with directionals for winding and hand-setting and is numbered 117 with an indistinct case maker’s mark, possibly IT.

Movement may only run for short periods and would likely benefit from a cleaning and service. There are some light scuffs and scratches on the plates. The dial has some light scratches, as well as minor and very light chipping around the recesses for the numerals and central gold decoration. The engine turning to the case back remains well defined, although there is some slight rubbing towards the very edges.
