A rare Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and diamond set keyless pendant watch designed as a scarab, circa 1880. A hinged case, the reverse realistically chased and engraved with legs and abdomen. Wing covers entirely decorated in green translucent enamel set with 32 round diamonds, the thorax set with six round diamonds, eyes with two rubies, spring loaded wings open from a button in the winding crown to reveal the dial. White enamel dial with blue and red radial Arabic numerals and yellow gold spade hands. Frosted gilt bar calibre movement with going barrel, ten jewels, cylinder escapement with plain three arm balance, flat balance spring, and an index regulator.
