Enamelled gold pendant watch in the shape of a scarab
–
A Swiss diamond set gold and enamel scarab form pendant watch, circa 1910.
It features a bridge movement, key winding, a three arm brass balance, a rare quality with wolf teeth and cylinder escapement, along with a miniature pusher at the bottom for opening the wings. The white enamel dial showcases radial black Arabic hours and a red 12, an outer minute track and spade hands. An 18 carat gold and red guilloché enamel case encases the watch. The spring loaded wings are adorned with translucent red enamel in an engine turned pattern and studded with cut diamonds, the champlevé style neck has matching ornaments. The head and hinged belly are realistically chased and engraved with two diamonds representing the eyes. Inside the cover, a picture can be inserted behind a glass panel.
