A highly interesting gold/enamel Swiss open faced pocket watch with a decentralized dial, circa 1787-1810.
Full plate movement, gilt, chain/fusee, solid movement pillars, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued balance spring, fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge. Decentralized silver engine-turned dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track, and Breguet-style hands. Very lavishly gold enamel case with segments enamelled in different colours. Rim and pendant engraved. Movement signed.

Les Frères Wiss, Swiss watch manufacturer and watch dealer
The Les Fréres Wiss company was founded in 1760 by Pierre-Isaac Wiss and Jacob Wiss. In 1775 the company was renamed Frères Wiss & Amalric with business partner Abraham Amalric. After the death of Jacob Wiss in 1784, the company was renamed Wiss & Amalric until 1786. In 1787 Jean Nicolas Menu became a business partner in the company. Jean Nicolas was a watchmaker, watch dealer and married to the daughter of Jacob Wiss. From then on, the company continued as Wiss Frères & Menu.
