Gold keyless wind pocket watch

An important Swiss 18K pink and yellow gold keyless pocket chronometer Première Classe with high-relief decoration, circa 1910. Accompanied by the original fitted rosewood box with a mother-of-pearl medallion, a hair chain, the original Bulletin de Marche and an Extract of the same. This watch is sold with a certificate of authenticity. The case is signed by Holy Frères, Saint-Imier. Specially made in 280 examples for the Eidgenössisches Schützenfest, Bern, 1910.

A solid, polished case, the back cover cast with the profile of a woman dressed in traditional Bernese costume and headdress and surrounded by the inscription 1910, Bern. Hinged gold cuvette engraved Eidgenössisches Schützenfest, Bern 1910, K. Niklaus, Monrepas. White enamel dial with painted Dauphine numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and yellow gold spade hands. A gilt brass movement, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, eccentric cam micrometre regulator. Dial, case and movement signed.

The Bernese woman depicted on the back cover of this watch is dressed in the traditional attire of the Simmental area with a light, transparent Schwefelhuetli on her head. Her profile is surrounded by the words 1910, Bern on a fine crown of Edelweiss flowers. Omega supplied some 180 watches for the 1910 Federal Shooting Exhibition in Berne.
