Gold open faced repeating pocket watch
–
A rare Swiss gentleman’s quarter repeating pocket watch with three Jacquemarts, circa 1810. This exquisite timepiece boasts an 18-carat rose gold engine-turned case adorned with a beautifully crafted engine-turned band and case maker’s punch mark AH. The dial is stunning, featuring an enamel chapter ring with Arabic Empire numerals. The pièce de résistance, however, is the two-piece gold jacquemart á quatre couleurs, depicting Chronos knocking on a bell and two bell-ringing putti in front of a gold repoussé temple on a blued steel background. The blued snake hands add a touch of elegance to this already magnificent watch. The gilt, fine florally engraved, full plate movement with keywind, two hammers, two gongs, three armed brass balance and pierced balance bridge ensures that this watch is not just a work of art but also a highly functional timepiece.
