Gold open faced repeating pocket watch
–
A rare Swiss gentleman’s quarter repeating pocket watch with three Jaquemarts, circa 1810. This exquisite timepiece boasts an 18-carat rose gold case with an engine-turned and reeded band. The dial features an enamel chapter ring with Arabic Empire numerals and a stunning two-piece gold Jaquemart á quatre couleurs. The upper part depicts a knight knocking on the scythe of Chronos, while the lower part showcases two bell-ringing putti in front of a gold repoussé temple on a blued steel background. The blued Breguet hands add a touch of elegance to this already luxurious watch. The full plate movement is keywind, frosted, gilt, and features blued screws, two hammers, two gongs, a three-armed brass balance, and a fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge. A silver regulator disc completes this masterpiece.
