Gold automaton watch with virgule escapement

A rare Swiss, 18 carat gold and enamel quarter repeating pocket watch with an automaton scene, circa 1810. A polished case, fluted band, hinged gold cuvette. Small white enamel dial with Breguet numerals and gold Breguet hands. Driven by the repeating train, the gold bell striking automaton scene is applied over midnight blue enamel. Two cherub automaton Jacks strike hours and quarters on two bells standing on a floral and leaf decoration. Gilt brass, three-quarter plate movement with cylindrical pillars, going barrel, virgule escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring. Repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. Cuvette and movement signed.
