Gold glazed pocket watch

An unusual Swiss 18 carat gold key wind pocket watch, circa 1810. The case with a reeded band and glazed on both sides. A small, white enamel dial on the face with radial Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions and blued steel scottier hands. The gilt brass, vase shaped full plate movement fully decorated on both sides with an engraved foliate and geometrical pattern, fusee and chain, cylindrical pillars, a verge escapement, plain brass tree arm balance, flat balance spring and small two footed cock.

These watches are extremely rare. To date, only about ten of these watches are known to exist, most of them in important collections and museums. In 2016, one of these ten watches was sold in Geneva for more than CHF 18.000 (about € 16,515). Another example was auctioned with an estimated price between € 15,000 and € 20,000.
