An extremely rare, fine Geneva chronograph Rattrapante Compteur, circa 1910.
Polished 18K gold case, extremely solid and high-quality. Signed enamel dial in perfect condition with Breguet-style radial hours, outer minutes/seconds track with five minutes/seconds numerals, subsidiary dial for the seconds, rare 60-minute counter, and original steel pear hands. Precision lever movement of extremely fine quality, split-seconds chronograph with counter, plate signed and numbered.

Golay Fils & Stahl also known as Golay-Leresche & Stahl.
Golay Fils & Stahl à Genève was the successor of the company of Golay-Leresche & Fils. David “Auguste” Golay-Leresche died in Geneva in 1895. After Auguste died in 1895, his sons Joseph Pierre Golay and David Louis Golay took over the company and entered into a partnership with Edouard Stahl in 1896. The company name was changed to Golay Fils & Stahl.

The exclusive shop was soon appointed the official court jeweller of the Romanian King Carol I of Romania, a welcome and frequent customer who regularly visited the Geneva shop. Prince Damrong of Siam and the Maharajah of Baroda were also among the court jeweller’s loyal customers. Edouard Stahl became the sole owner a few years later, and the company was renamed Golay Fils & Stahl Successeurs.
