Gold hunting cased pocket watch by Ami Sandoz & Fils
–
A fine and rare Swiss 18k gold hunting cased watch with pivoted detent escapement, circa 1870. The watch features a brass gilt movement with fusee and chain, jewels in screwed chatons, chronometer escapement with pivoted detent, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold ovoid weights, meantime adjustment screws, a blued steel helical balance spring, and an index regulator. The case is made of 18 carat gold and is engine turned, with a hinged and sprung front cover, as well as a hinged gold cuvette. The white enamel dial has radial Roman numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds, and blued steel fancy hands. The cuvette is signed, and the dial, case, and cuvette are all numbered.

The movement functions properly. The dial has a minor hairline crack from XI to IIII, which is hardly noticeable. The case has some scuffs but is generally in very good condition.
