An extravagant, very heavy pocket watch chronometer by Robert Roskell Liverpool, hallmarks, circa 1845. A smooth silver case, hallmarks 1845, case maker’s punch IBWW, spring detent escapement with spring in manner of Earnshaw, two part bi metallic compensation balance in the manner of Earnshaw with two wedge shaped, rounded sliding brass weights and two large steel regulating screws, steel shafts with eyelets in the manner of Earnshaw to stabilize the balance to the mass weights, finely engraved balance bridge with blued steel chaton and diamond end stone, escape wheel with screwed gold chaton, special blued helical hairspring; main plate signed and numbered, original, signed enamel dial; blued steel hands, very beautiful condition, in working order, imposing chronometer.
