Gilt brass commemorative watch

A fine Swiss gilt brass single handed rectangular keyless pocket watch made by Longines Watch Co to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the foundation of the city of St. Imier in 884 AD, circa 1984. The front is engraved with details from the clock tower of Saint-Martin, and on the back is an aperture to view the movement, and further engraving: Saint-Imier 100 Ans de la Cité DCCCLXXXIIII MCMLXXXIIII. Black enamel dial with radial gilt Roman hour numerals, a gilt image of the sun in the center and a single gilded hand. Rhodium plated movement with 17 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self compensating flat balance spring and shock absorber. Movement signed.
