Unsigned gold lapel/brooch watch
–
A unique Swiss gold lapel/brooch watch designed in the form of a pointer, circa 1910. The watch features an unsigned gilded circular movement with a jewelled lever escapement and a bimetallic compensation balance. The dial is silvered with Arabic numerals, an outer minute ring, and blued steel hands. The gold case has a broad, flat bezel, and the movement’s gold casement is separated from the dial via a brass collar. The pointer is formed of interlocking scrolling chased and engraved foliage, and the watch case has a hinged retractable hook for hanging.

The watch movement is operational and in good aesthetic condition, but could benefit from cleaning and servicing. The dial shows wear on the minute track and some numerals, as well as a light circular scratch where the hour hand has made contact. The case is hallmarked and stamped 18k on the back, but the positioning of the mark makes it difficult to read and determine the country of origin. Although the movement is Swiss, the casing is likely manufactured in a different country. There are no hallmarks or maker’s marks on the snap-off case back of the movement. The case and hands have light scuffs and scratches, and the end of the hand has been slightly blunted.
