Yellow gold open faced lever pocket watch

A very fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced five minute repeating keyless pocket watch with split seconds chronograph made by Patek Philippe in Geneva, circa 1887. Retailed and cased by Tiffany & Co in New York, U.S.A. Sold on May 30th, 1888. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives. The solid, polished case with concealed hinges and a hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track with fifth of a second divisions and Arabic five minute markers, and blued steel spade hands. The ½ plate movement with 29 jewels, a calibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance and blued steel Breguet balance spring with Phillips terminal curve, a split seconds mechanism under the dial, repeating on gongs by activating slide on the band. Dial, case and movement signed.
