A fine Swiss silver open-faced marine chronometer watch with power reserve and enamel 24 hours indication dial, circa 1890, jewelled brass-gilt manual winding lever movement, two arms cut bimetallic compensation balance, 32 hours power reserve, silver cuvette.
White enamel 24 hours indication dial, Arabic numerals, outer minutes track, subsidiary dials for the power reserve, and the constant seconds.
Plain silver case, case, dial and movement signed.

Ulysse Nardin is a luxury Swiss watch manufacturer founded in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland, which has remained in continuous production since. Ulysse Nardin has operated out of the same building headquartered in Le Locle, Switzerland since 1865.

Historically, the company is best known for its manufacture of highly accurate marine chronometers supplied at one point during the 1800s to over fifty of the world’s navies. Ulysse Nardin first trained in horology under his father, Leonard-Frederic Nardin, and perfected his skills under the tutelage of Frederic William Dubois and Louis JeanRichard-dit-Bressel, two master watchmakers whose fame extended beyond the mountains of Neuchatel, Switzerland.
