An extremely rare Swiss quarter repeating pocket watch, movement with alarm, in a wooden box, circa 1880.
Polished steel case. Enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minutes track with red Arabic five minutes numerals, hand for the alarm, and decorative hands. Bridge movement, three hammers / three gongs, two barrels, gold screw compensation balance.

The extremely elaborate movement with 17 rubies, rose gold train, three gongs and two barrels, was most likely created by Louis Elysée Piguet. It is set in a somewhat unsophisticated steel frame but still cuts a fine figure in its wooden display case.
