A fine and rare gentleman’s decorative Swiss silver open faced lever pocket watch with cricket alarm and three dimensional and very life like cricket, circa 1890.
Matte gilt 3/4 plate movement, 15 jewels, two trains with tandem winding, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, notched bi metallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator. Hinged silver and blued steel cuvette pierced for sound emission. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track for the alarm and blued decorative hands. The bezel is engraved with stylized flowers and rotating with a gold rimmed aperture for the alarm setting, polished band, the back cover is decorated in high relief with a cricket, pierced border to match the bezel and the interior with embossed cricket.
