Niëllo silver full hunter cased watch with chain
–
An unusual and very large hunting cased anker chronometer pocket watch made in Switzerland for the English market, circa 1880. The numbered case of this watch was crafted from silver, is elaborately niëllo decorated on both sides, and bears both Swiss and English silver punches. The white enamel dial features Roman hours, an outer minute track, Arabic five minute numerals, outermost fifth of a second divisions, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and fine gold hands. The numbered, glazed movement has a Swiss anker chronometer escapement, gold wheels and a large chronometer balance.
The case and movement have matching numbers, and the movement is signed.
